A LOVING – KINDNESS MINDFUL WALK
Take a walk around your neighborhood or a park if you’d prefer. Can you practice
Loving - kindness mindful walking?
A. While walking, focus your awareness on your ‘STEPS’ and breath if possible. Use this focus on the breath-body to ground yourself as you begin to recite the following intentions.
B. After you feel grounded, begin to recite ONE intention repeatedly for a time, then choose another etc.:
MAY I FEEL SAFE
MAY I FEEL LOVING-KINDNESS TOWARDS MYSELF,
MAY I BE FREE FROM SUFFERING,
MAY I PRACTICE MINDFULNESS.
Can you feel the connection between the ‘STEPS’ and the intention?
When it seems right to you, you can then select another intention.
Continue in this manner until you want to stop.
C. Anytime you like, you can return your attention to your breath and STEPS.
If repetitive thoughts/feelings or body sensations distract you from your mindfulness practice, simply notice them, see if they pass away and return your awareness to the LOVING - KINDNESS intention when you like.
After you have finished practicing a Loving – Kindness Walk and have returned home perhaps you could make a few notes about your experience.
